The Big Bear Group: Children in their Big Bear year are consolidating their learning, forming friendships and beginning to become independent learners and thinkers.
1: Communication Skills: The Bears are learning to listen to their peers, follow instruction and concentrate on tasks and challenges.
2. Personal & Social Skills: The bears build on their self esteem, sense of self and consideration for others.
3. Physical Skills: The bears extend their skills through: threading, scissor skills, assualt courses, ball skills and group PE games.
The Bear group have two x focused adult led group times:
4. Literacy focused group: Listening to each other, stories, recognising sounds, rhymes, and practicing early writing skills.
5. Maths focused group: Building, patterns, counting, sorting, matching, numbers, shape, weight and size.
The Bears extend their learning outside - activities linked to:
6. Expressive Arts & Design: creating through art and media, dancing to different music in different ways, thinking about what they want to build, make, dressing up & make believe.
7. Understanding the World : Looking closely at insects, noticing patterns, how things are different. Sharing family news, joining in celebrations, acting out different roles eg: the police, fire fighters.
