Our Ethos and our Aims at Tidbury
There are many elements to our Ethos and Pedagogy
Our Ethos dips into many approaches which include four elements that are all centred on the child:
- ACTIVE LEARNER: "I have space"
- HAPPY BODY: "I am myself"
- THE ENVIRONMENT: "I can make choices"
- HOME FROM HOME: "I am a part of a family"

1. ACTIVE LEARNER: At Tidbury we place a strong emphasis on the benefits of fresh air, the outdoors and active learning. We provide an environment that encourages the children to explore, creates challenges and where children can reach their full potential.
OFSTED Report 2024:
The quality of education is OUTSTANDING:
"Children are excited about their learning. During adult - led activities that punctuate the day, children join their chosen groups quickly, settling enthusiastically and concentrate well on the task in hand."
2. HAPPY BODY: Settling in new children at our nursery is never rushed; it takes time, patience and expertise. Starting with Home Visits our team build close relationships with our families to enable and ensure each child feels comfortable, happy and relaxed within our nursery.
OFSTED Report 2024:
The partnerships with families are OUTSTANDING:
"Through home visits, initial observations and timely assessment, staff skilfully identify children's starting points for learning. Key persons know their children incredibly well and they establish strong partnerships with parents that highly effectively support their children's learning and development."
3. THE ENVIRONMENT: Our aim is simply to be the best in the area and to provide a rich environment that offers the highest standards of care and education for each and every child. Tidbury is a place that celebrates individuality and supports children’s independence. We install traditional and British values. This means that at Tidbury we actively encourage children to make their own decisions, have positive attitudes and above all have respect for themselves and for others
OFSTED Report 2024:
The leadership and management are OUTSTANDING:
"Dedicated, passionate leaders and staff have high expectations of what children can achieve in this wonderful nursery. They have created a curriculum that is well structured, highly ambitious and reflects children's personal needs and interests"
4. HOME FROM HOME: We offer a very warm welcome to our children and their families; we pride ourselves in the home from home atmosphere that we create to ensure everyone feels a part of our Tidbury family. Our ongoing success is very much a team effort; we are a passionate, dedicated team who all believe in the same ethos.
OFSTED Report 2024:
The personal development is OUTSTANDING:

They describe the nursery as a 'magical' place for their children to learn.
